scanning, scanning, scanning

Apologies to everyone who’s been trying to reach me – I’ve retreated to my apartment of solitude to scan an ungodly amount of Burning Man 2006 slides. With any luck, the gallery should be up in a week or so. From first impressions, though, I think it will be worth the wait . . .

tenth anniversary

My site is ten years old today – I registered webbery.com on July 21st, 1996 – Google won’t even be nine until September . . .

If you’re interested, here’s the Internet Archive’s record of my early web doodlings.

dent

I’ve made a dent in my backlog of weddings, here’s three more:- Sue and Stuart, Margaret and Eric and Lisa and Mike. Three more to come…

And and update on “Boobalogues,” the documentary on women’s relationship with their breasts I contributed a bunch of images to. You can now buy it from the filmmakers’s website for a mere $18. Although I am biased, it really is an excellent documentary.

give common sense a chance

protest

A giant protest all but shut down San Francisco the morning bombs started falling on Iraq. I went out with the protesters to capture some of the anti war sentiment. Parental guidance: contains some expletives.

This Thursday, March 27th, I’m having a kind of Open Studio in a San Francisco hotel room. The Hotel Cosmo is having a grand reopening and I’m one of the artists taking part. It’s at 761 Post Street (at Leavenworth) and you can find me, my pictures and the ever lengthening hip slideshow in room 1701 from 5pm to 8pm. No cover, all welcome.

Oh, and while imitation may be the greatest form of flattery, this is ridiculous.

random images

laura

I’ve had the same entry page on my site for nearly three years, and much as I liked it, I decided it was time for a change. Problem was, which of my 100,000+ images would I use to replace it? I couldn’t decide, so I picked 120, one of which will randomly pop up when you first visit the site. Variety is a good thing. Since the image rotation script is all of three lines long, I’ve used it to create a page which randomly calls any of the 5,000+ pictures on my site. On average, one in five should be a hip . . .

As my to-do list grows to epic proportions, I found time to post a gallery of a shoot I did last month of Laura, a Burning Man cutie with smiling eyes. Right now, I’m debating whether to fly or drive 1,300 miles for a photo shoot in Boulder, Colorado. I’ve never driven cross country, but crossing the Rockies in midwinter mightn’t be the smartest move. On the other hand, it should be beautiful to see/photograph.

Update: Driving it is; on Tuesday I’m going to drive 1,300 miles across four states, over two mountain ranges and through all kinds of weather. Photos will follow . . .
