I expect a spike in traffic each time I post my Burning Man galleries, but this was the biggest yet. In the first week alone, I got 40,000 visitors, 700,000 page views and transferred a staggering 65 *gigabytes* of data. My web logs alone mushroomed by 1.5 gigs . . . The Reno Gazette Journal are running a peice on me tomorrow, maybe they’ll bring even more visitors.
Since I’ve already shot 1,500 hips, I thought I’d try start something different, so this year it’s torsos. 582 of them, or if you’re pedantic, 291 people, front and back. I wasn’t sure about it at first - a little too symmetrical for my liking - but it seemed to go down well. One of my subjects, Mark Morford was kind enough to mention them in his own newsletter.
For the camera junkies:- I shot everything with a Nikon F100 and a Nikkor 50mm f1.4ADF lens. Apart from the (very few) night shots, I used Fuji Velvia slide film rated at 40asa. And like all other image on this site, they’re all full frame and haven’t been Photoshopped or retouched. I just scan them, add “webbery.com,” resize and save as jpeg. Just as well - I scanned 2,000 images and posted 1,200 for this Burn alone.
