It sounded like an excellent shoot: two beautiful people getting married on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe with the sun setting behind them. Technically, a very tough proposition; I’d be shooting a pale German bride in a white dress and her African American groom sillhouetted against the sun in steadily changing light. I’d figured out how to do it (I’ll spare you the details), but unfortunately things don’t always run to plan and the ceremony was delayed a full hour and a half, well past sunset. That I managed to get any usable prints from the shoot is largely down to Nikon’s engineering wizardry. You can see how dark it was by contrasting similar shots of the ceremony I shot with regular flash and rear sync. In any case, here’s Patricia and Philip. (You may recognise Patricia from a previous shoot of mine.)
